Ayodhya, April 14: Saints from Ayodhya have reacted sharply to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s recent comments labeling Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as a “fake saint.” This statement was made during a speech in Sultanpur on Monday, where Yadav suggested that some people correctly identify Adityanath as a “fake saint,” warning the people of Bengal to remain cautious. His remarks have stirred political tensions in Uttar Pradesh.
Prominent saints from Ayodhya condemned Yadav’s comments as “disrespectful” and indicative of a “loss of mental balance.” Maharaj Karpatri stated, “Akhilesh Yadav questions Yogi Adityanath’s credibility, but who is he to question the faith in saints? What defines a saint? Instead of engaging in politics, he should focus on his responsibilities. By questioning Yogi, he has actually questioned all saints in India.”
Maharaj Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das added, “Those who label others as Kalnemi are themselves Kalnemi. Akhilesh Yadav is a fake Hindu. He frequently makes controversial statements about Sanatan culture, saints, and Goddess Sita. By calling Yogi a fake saint, he mirrors how Ravana disguised himself as a saint to abduct Goddess Sita. I urge the people of Bengal to reject such fake saints.”
Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhawan Temple accused Yadav of serious mental instability, stating, “Akhilesh Mohammad Khan has lost his mental balance and suffers from a mental illness. He lacks any understanding of culture or values. Is this how you were raised? Is this your culture? Would you really label saints as Kalnemi?”
The saints of Ayodhya assert that Yadav’s statement is not only an insult to Yogi Adityanath but also to the entire saint community and the Sanatan tradition. They described it as a result of “political desperation.”
