Nagercoil, April 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a roadshow in Kanyakumari on Wednesday. He will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram via a special aircraft and then head to Nagercoil by helicopter.
According to reports, he is scheduled to land at the Armed Forces Ground, from where he will travel by road to the Vepamoodu Junction. The roadshow is set to commence around 4:30 PM. A one-kilometer stretch from Vepamoodu Junction to the MGR statue in Vadaseri has been designated for this event.
During the roadshow, Prime Minister Modi will travel in an open vehicle, greeting the public and rallying support for the BJP and NDA alliance candidates contesting in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi districts.
Senior leaders from the alliance, including Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran, former state president K. Annamalai, former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, are expected to join the event.
The BJP has made extensive preparations for this visit. Barricades have been set up on both sides of the route to facilitate crowd management and ensure that the public can safely view the Prime Minister during the procession.
Party sources indicate that thousands of BJP workers and supporters from all six assembly constituencies in Kanyakumari district are expected to participate. Additionally, a significant number of activists from neighboring districts Thoothukudi and Tenkasi are likely to attend, underscoring the importance of this event in the NDA’s election campaign strategy.
After the roadshow, PM Modi will return to the Armed Forces Ground, from where he will fly back to Thiruvananthapuram and then proceed to New Delhi.
This visit is particularly significant as political parties ramp up their campaign efforts in the final days leading up to the elections, with star campaigners playing a crucial role in reaching out to voters across Tamil Nadu.
Voting for the 234-member assembly is scheduled for April 23, with counting set for May 4. To ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process, the Election Commission of India has deployed 176 general and police observers, along with 150 expenditure observers. These officials will closely monitor campaign activities and expenditure to prevent any violations and maintain the integrity of the democratic process.
