Amit Shah Embarks on Two-Day Visit to Northeast India

New Delhi, June 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has departed for a two-day visit to Northeast India. During this trip, he will assess the preparations of the Border Security Force (BSF) and other agencies to tackle various challenges along the India-Bangladesh border.

In a post on the social media platform X, Amit Shah announced his trip to Tripura, stating that he will visit the Lankamura border post and engage with our brave BSF personnel. He will also chair meetings of the Northeast Council (NEC) and the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC).

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh welcomed Shah’s visit, emphasizing that it reaffirms the Indian government’s unwavering commitment to peace, development, and prosperity in the Northeast region.

During his visit to the Bangladesh border, Shah will lay the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects, participate in a plantation campaign, and attend a soldier’s conference.

Additionally, the Home Minister will inaugurate a hotel project, developed in collaboration between the Tripura government and a private entity.

The Tripura government, BSF, and West Tripura district administration are making extensive preparations for the Home Minister’s two-day visit to the state.

It is noteworthy that Amit Shah has previously visited several sensitive and strategic border areas adjacent to Pakistan and Bangladesh. Recently, he was in Rajasthan and Gujarat, where he praised the BSF for their efforts.

He highlighted that while our security forces are safeguarding the nation’s borders, they have also contributed significantly to environmental protection by planting over 75 million trees in the past five years.

During his Rajasthan visit, Shah referenced the Sanchu border, expressing pride in standing on the same ground where brave soldiers drove back Pakistan in 1965.

He reiterated that ensuring zero infiltration is a responsibility that can only be achieved through a “four-cornered security grid.” Furthermore, he assured that the BSF would soon receive world-class technology for border security.
