Mumbai, June 29: Singer and composer Amal Malik recently shared his thoughts on the high-profile Ketan Agarwal murder case. He emphasized that while laws in India are stronger for women’s safety compared to men’s, there should be no misuse of these laws to manipulate the system.
In a lengthy note posted on the social media platform X, Malik addressed issues of gender, accountability, and the recent murder case. He began by apologizing to women for the suffering they have endured due to men’s actions over generations. He expressed his support for women’s collective anger and stressed the importance of fighting against oppression, but urged that it should be directed only at those who attempt to suppress them.
Malik stated, “Labeling everything as ‘toxic’ and avoiding responsibility is why we overlook real signs. Physical violence from any side is toxic. Chasing money instead of emotions is toxic. Pursuing a social media marriage is toxic. Ruining someone who never intended to move forward with you is also toxic.”
He questioned the motivations behind relationships, asking, “Do you want a wedding for Instagram or a genuine marriage? Can you accept a lovely honeymoon in Lonavala, or do you believe that true love means being whisked away from India?” He acknowledged that everyone desires a good life but pondered whether true love is only felt on a Maldives island.
Malik expressed sorrow over Agarwal’s death, stating, “This person did not deserve such an end. Look at his smile and eyes. He seemed so happy about getting married. Ketan Agarwal appeared to be an innocent and affectionate individual.”
In another post, he remarked, “The effort put into committing murder could have been spent simply saying ‘no.’ She could have clearly stated that her heart beats for someone else. If he persisted, she could have informed her family and involved them. No educated and earning woman can be forced against her will.”
Malik further commented, “Laws in India are better for women than for men, so why manipulate the system through misuse? Only a weak man would plot against another. Look at the audacity of these individuals who thought they could lead a happy life after taking someone’s son. A life has ended, families have shattered. They are monsters.”
These remarks from the singer come at a time when the investigation into Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal’s murder is ongoing.
