Pune, June 29: The suspects in the murder case of Pune real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal, Siya Goyal and Chetan, are set to appear in court on Monday. Sources indicate that the police may request an extension of the remand for both accused individuals.
Both suspects are currently held at the Wadgaon police station lockup after being brought in for questioning by the Lonavala rural police. Following the interrogation, they will be presented at the Wadgaon court.
Previously, Siya Goyal’s lawyer, Ashutosh Srivastava, opposed the extension of police custody, asserting that the allegations should be proven through a proper investigation and trial.
In an interview, Ashutosh Srivastava stated, “I will strive to ensure that custody is not extended. The accused has cooperated fully with the police and answered all questions. Family members have also recorded their statements. The police have had ample time for questioning. As the accused is a 20-year-old girl, I believe the court will take this aspect into consideration and send her to judicial custody. We will then proceed with the legal process.”
He further commented, “The facts in this case do not provide clear indications. At first glance, there is no statement that points towards murder. Aside from some suspicion, I see nothing that supports such conclusions.”
Srivastava expressed skepticism about the circumstances, saying, “I find it very strange that someone facing such serious charges would take the person they allegedly intended to kill to the same location four times. This seems implausible to me.”
However, sources have reported that the police have seized several digital pieces of evidence during the investigation. Additionally, a recreation of the crime scene where Ketan Agarwal was murdered has taken place.
