Allegations of Misconduct Against Panchayat Head in Deoghar

Deoghar, June 21: In Deoghar district of Jharkhand, a Panchayat head has been accused of misconduct after allegedly entering a woman’s home in the middle of the night. Sagar Mandal, the head of the Kairabank Panchayat in the Sarath block, was apprehended by villagers late Saturday night and handed over to the police. Authorities have since taken him into custody and initiated an investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred around 1 AM on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

According to allegations, Mandal entered a residence in the village of Alkusha and behaved inappropriately towards the woman. Upon her protests and cries for help, other family members woke up and informed nearby residents. A large crowd of villagers soon arrived at the scene, where they detained Mandal and reportedly assaulted him.

Eyewitnesses noted that the situation became tense for a time, as villagers accused the Panchayat head of entering the home with ill intentions. Upon receiving the report, the Pathardih police station dispatched officers to the location. The police managed to calm the crowd and took Mandal into custody for questioning.

Police officials stated that they are currently recording statements from the victim’s side. Based on the complaint, they are in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the law. Further legal action will be taken following the investigation. The incident has sparked considerable discussion in the area, given that the allegations involve an elected representative.

Authorities assured that a fair investigation is underway, and they will reach a conclusion only after thoroughly examining all facts. Currently, police are interrogating both parties and collecting evidence related to the incident.
