Major Bus Collision Injures 35 Nepali Pilgrims on Highway

Mumbai, September 2: A significant road accident occurred late Tuesday night on the Moradabad-Haridwar State Highway in the Kanth police jurisdiction. A private bus carrying Nepali pilgrims, en route from Haridwar to Ayodhya, collided with a state transport bus near the Gadhi bus stop. Following the impact, the private bus lost control and crashed into a roadside structure. Over 35 pilgrims sustained injuries, with eight reported in critical condition.

According to reports, the private bus was carrying a total of 53 Nepali pilgrims participating in a tour program from Haridwar to Ayodhya. The collision took place near the Gadhi bus stop, and the force of the crash caused panic among passengers. Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and promptly informed the police.

The Kanth police arrived shortly after receiving the report. They, along with local volunteers, helped rescue the trapped passengers and transported the injured to the Kanth Community Health Center. After initial treatment, the eight seriously injured were referred to the Moradabad District Hospital.

Dr. Manoj Yadav, the emergency medical officer at the district hospital, stated that by 8:30 AM, all eight injured had arrived at the facility. Approximately six to seven individuals underwent X-rays, with one suspected of having a fracture. The others reported swelling and pain. All patients have been admitted for further treatment, and additional tests, including necessary X-rays, are being conducted. According to the doctor, more injured individuals may still arrive at the hospital.

One injured pilgrim recounted that there were 53 passengers on board, traveling from Haridwar to Ayodhya. They mentioned that the bus lost control and collided with the bus ahead.

Following the accident, senior police officials arrived at the scene to assess the rescue operations. The highway experienced chaos for a brief period after the incident. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident, with preliminary reports suggesting that the bus lost control.
