Netanyahu Claims Capture of Top Hamas Leader Near Gaza Home

New Delhi, September 2: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for capturing a key figure in Hamas’s internal security apparatus near his home. He stated, “My directive is clear: we will continue to pursue all Hamas leaders and anyone involved in the October 7 massacre.”

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Netanyahu commended the Shin Bet (Israeli security agency) and IDF for their bold operation in Gaza. He revealed that the captured individual is one of Hamas’s senior leaders, responsible for hiding and transporting hostages, providing safe havens for senior leaders, and enhancing the organization’s military capabilities.

Netanyahu noted that this leader had recently been involved in efforts to re-establish Hamas’s rule in Gaza. He was also active in spreading misleading information regarding the disarmament of the Gaza Strip and assisted in carrying out terrorist attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.

The Prime Minister reiterated his directive, emphasizing that Israel will relentlessly pursue all Hamas leaders and those involved in the October 7 massacre. Two weeks ago, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz held a high-level review meeting regarding security threats posed by drones, balloons, and kites sent from Gaza into Israel.

Following the meeting, a joint statement warned Hamas that if attacks via drones, balloons, and kites did not cease immediately, the IDF would intensify targeted strikes against those responsible.

In a decisive move, Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to take strict action against any balloon or kite. He clarified that any balloon or kite coming from Gaza would be treated as a drone, regardless of whether it contained explosives.
