Allahabad High Court to Hear Krishna Janmabhoomi vs. Shahi Idgah Dispute Today

Prayagraj, April 10: The Allahabad High Court is set to hold a significant hearing today regarding the much-publicized Krishna Janmabhoomi vs. Shahi Idgah mosque dispute. The hearing is scheduled for 2 PM, where both the temple and mosque representatives will present their arguments.

Since October 2023, various petitions related to this case have been continuously heard. To date, around 18 lawsuits have been filed in connection with this dispute. The Hindu side is demanding that the Shahi Idgah mosque be declared encroached upon and that the entire land be handed over to the temple authorities. Additionally, they are seeking the restoration of the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple and a permanent injunction against the mosque.

Justice Avnish Saxena’s single bench is overseeing the proceedings. Today’s hearing is expected to cover several crucial points, including the disposal of various applications and responses to amended petitions.

The Hindu side’s lawyer emphasized the importance of today’s hearing. According to him, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will also submit its response in case number 3. The Hindu claim asserts that in 1670, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb demolished the temple to construct the mosque, and the idol of Lord Krishna was taken to Agra.

The lawyer further alleged that the mosque’s representatives are attempting to prolong the case by repeatedly submitting new applications, hindering the proper progress of the hearing. He has requested the court to establish a timeline for the proceedings to expedite the case and reach a swift resolution.

This matter is not only legally significant but also considered highly sensitive from religious and historical perspectives, making all parties keenly observant of today’s hearing.
