Ranchi, August 29: Congress leader Rajesh Thakur commented on the anxiety within the BJP regarding senior leader Sonia Gandhi’s upcoming book. He claimed that the BJP is attempting to suppress the book’s release. Thakur emphasized that despite losing her husband and mother-in-law, Sonia Gandhi has dedicated herself to serving the nation without seeking personal gain.
He stated, “The emergence of Sonia Gandhi’s persona through this book has caused a sense of unease within the Bharatiya Janata Party. She has lost her husband, Rajiv Gandhi, and her mother-in-law, Indira Gandhi, yet she has remained committed to serving the people. She had numerous opportunities for political gain but chose to guide us instead. The strength with which she has fought is something the BJP cannot forget.”
Thakur further asserted that during their ten years in power, there were efforts to prevent Sonia Gandhi’s character from being showcased through the book. He expressed confidence that the book would be published soon, stating, “We believe there is no shortage of publishers, and her book will be released shortly.”
Regarding the recent tragedy in Nepal, he remarked, “This is very sad news. Nepal is not just our neighboring country but also a friend. In times of crisis, we must stand together. The central government should support the Nepalese government. While the Prime Minister is visiting Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, he should have prioritized a visit to Nepal. When incidents occur in Manipur, he visits Bihar. We need to stand with Nepal, and we are all with them in this crisis.”
On the Vande Mataram controversy, Thakur criticized the BJP, stating that no leader from the party can sing the entire anthem. “These people never sang Vande Mataram before and did not even display the national flag at their headquarters. Now they pretend to be knowledgeable. Their actions are solely for political gain. Whether they sing two, four, or eight verses, they have no real contribution. Those who stood with the British are now talking about Vande Mataram. When asked to sing it on debate shows, BJP leaders start shouting.”
