Lucknow, July 1: On his 53rd birthday, Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that the party’s priority is not the nation but donations. He raised concerns over the ongoing controversy surrounding the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, paper leaks, the education system, and the alleged misuse of government institutions by both the central and state governments. During this time, he also announced the launch of the ‘PDA Swabhimaan Sahayog’ campaign aimed at strengthening the party financially.
At a press conference held at the party headquarters, Yadav mentioned that the campaign would soon be initiated through QR codes, encouraging supporters to contribute a minimum of 20 rupees to bolster the organization.
He stated, “The BJP’s focus is not on the nation but on donations. For them, ‘Nation First’ is not the mantra; it’s ‘Donation First’.” He accused the government of playing with faith and devotion, asserting that issues related to the Ram Temple have raised serious questions across the country.
Yadav alleged that the government is attempting to divert public attention from critical issues. He claimed that serious matters like paper leaks are being suppressed amidst donations and other controversies. He pointed out that when anyone questions the government, they face action from government agencies. Referring to the paper leak incidents, he noted that they adversely affect the future of children from poor and middle-class families.
He further criticized the weakening education system in government schools, which has forced students to rely on coaching institutes, while the government is also exerting pressure on these institutions. He remarked that there is neither religion nor shame in the BJP’s lexicon. He accused the party of disrespecting saints, closing primary schools, and affecting primary health centers (PHCs) and community health centers (CHCs) even in the Chief Minister‘s home district.
While referencing the Ram Temple and the Constitution, Yadav stated that Lord Rama is an ideal of Indian culture and eternal tradition, while the Constitution symbolizes the limits of democracy. He accused the BJP of betraying religion, the Constitution, faith, and devotion.
The Samajwadi Party president asserted that Lord Rama will always be revered by all followers of Sanatan Dharma, but the BJP is attempting to gain political mileage in his name. He concluded by saying that the public understands these issues and will respond in due time.
