AK Sharma Issues Strong Directive on Monsoon Preparations and Electricity Management

Varanasi, June 15: Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Urban Development and Energy, AK Sharma, delivered a stern message during a review meeting in Varanasi on Monday. He emphasized the need for complete readiness of drainage systems before the monsoon and stated that any negligence in electricity supply will not be tolerated.

Sharma urged officials to expedite public utility projects and ensure effective monitoring and accountability. During the meeting held at the Circuit House auditorium, he instructed municipal officials to initiate a comprehensive cleanliness campaign in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season. He made it clear that there should be no instances of waterlogging in any city during the rains. This requires timely cleaning of drains, repairing drainage systems, and completing necessary preparations.

The minister also directed the removal of litter along roadsides and dividers, promoting beautification through tree planting, and enhancing cleanliness and greenery. He remarked that better urban infrastructure and a clean environment are essential for any city’s identity. Therefore, municipal bodies must work with full commitment to provide quality services to citizens. The meeting also reviewed ongoing and upcoming development projects.

Sharma instructed officials to complete projects with quality and timeliness, stating that delays in public interest development works will not be accepted. During the energy department review, he assessed the progress in electricity supply systems, transformer capacity upgrades, rapid replacement of faulty transformers, and strengthening the distribution network.

He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted, continuous, and quality electricity for consumers. Special monitoring of electricity supply during the summer and monsoon seasons was emphasized, along with timely resolution of potential technical issues.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of promptly addressing complaints received through the 1912 helpline, ensuring regular reviews of complaints for effective action. This is to prevent any inconvenience to the general public. Sharma concluded by stating that the services of the Urban Development and Energy Departments are directly linked to the daily lives of citizens. Therefore, all officials should work with sensitivity, transparency, and accountability, ensuring coordinated efforts for better public service.
