
New Delhi, June 16: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Evian, France, on Tuesday for a two-day visit to participate in the G7 Summit. This marks the final leg of his tour across two countries.
French President Emmanuel Macron will formally welcome Prime Minister Modi in Evian. During the summit, Modi will engage in a working session focused on the theme of “Reviving New Partnerships and International Solidarity.” Leaders from G7 nations, partner countries, and representatives from key international institutions, including the World Bank and the African Development Bank, will convene for this session.
The discussions are expected to center on strengthening international cooperation, addressing global economic challenges, and promoting sustainable development.
Throughout the summit, PM Modi will hold bilateral meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK counterpart Keir Starmer, and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to shared information from U.S. officials, Prime Minister Modi may also meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. Later, he will attend a gala dinner hosted by President Macron.
PM Modi’s visit to Paris is at the invitation of Macron. India’s participation in the G7 Summit highlights its growing influence in global affairs and its increasing role in shaping discussions on major international issues. This year marks India’s 13th participation in the G7, with Modi attending the summit for the seventh consecutive time.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “India’s continuous participation in the G7 Summit reflects its growing recognition in addressing global challenges related to peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, India has consistently prioritized the concerns and developmental aspirations of the Global South at international forums such as the G7, G20, and the Voice of the Global South Summit.”
Furthermore, the White House has confirmed that President Trump and PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting on June 17 during the summit.
A senior U.S. government official indicated that the leaders are expected to review progress on the proposed India-U.S. trade agreement, which could become the first formal trade deal between the two nations.
