Air Quality Improves in NCR as Weather Changes; More Shifts Expected on March 19

Noida, March 16: The National Capital Region (NCR) has witnessed a significant improvement in air quality due to recent weather changes. The arrival of cool winds and clear skies has resulted in a better Air Quality Index (AQI) across many areas in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Several locations recorded AQI levels in the green and satisfactory categories, allowing residents to breathe cleaner air. According to the Central Pollution Control Board and relevant agencies, AQI readings at various monitoring stations in Delhi showed satisfactory levels. Notable readings included 74 in Alipur, 92 in Ashok Vihar, 87 in Aya Nagar, and 86 at Burari Crossing.

Additionally, the Commonwealth Sports Complex recorded an AQI of 95, while the CRRI Mathura Road reported 72. However, some areas experienced slightly higher levels, such as 117 in Bawana, 116 in the Cantonment Area, and 117 in Chandni Chowk, all of which fall into the moderate category.

In Noida, all four monitoring stations reported improved air quality. The AQI was recorded at 70 in Sector 62, 90 in Sector 125, 85 in Sector 1, and 84 in Sector 116. These figures indicate satisfactory air quality, allowing residents to enjoy fresh air. Ghaziabad also saw improvements, with AQI levels of 80 in Indirapuram, 64 in Sanjay Nagar, and 84 in Vasundhara, all within the satisfactory range.

However, the Loni area reported an AQI of 133, which is considered moderate. The weather department indicates that the current weather in NCR remains clear. The seven-day forecast for Noida predicts a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius on March 16, with mostly clear skies expected. The maximum temperature is projected to reach 28 degrees Celsius on March 17 and 29 degrees Celsius on March 18.

Nevertheless, the weather department has indicated that changes may occur again starting March 19. The forecast suggests partly cloudy conditions with the possibility of rain or thunderstorms in some areas. Similar conditions with light rain are expected on March 20, and generally cloudy skies with light rainfall may occur on March 21.

This shift in weather has contributed to a decrease in pollution levels and improved air quality. Experts suggest that if rain and strong winds continue, residents of NCR may continue to benefit from cleaner air in the coming days.
