AIFF Launches Bidding Process for Commercial Rights of Club Competitions

New Delhi, March 28: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has initiated the bidding process for the commercial rights associated with its owned competitions and properties. This includes the Indian Super League (ISL), the Federation Cup (formerly known as the Super Cup), the Indian Women’s League (IWL), and the Indian Women’s League 2.

Bids have been received from three organizations. FanCode and Genius Sports have submitted proposals for the commercial rights of the ISL and the Federation Cup. Meanwhile, Capri Sports has bid for the commercial rights of the Indian Women’s League and Indian Women’s League 2.

The bids are for a duration of 15 years, with an option for a five-year extension. Bidders will have the “right of first refusal.” The proposal also includes a provision for a five percent annual increase in value during the agreement period.

The bid evaluation report will be presented to the AIFF’s executive committee, which is scheduled to meet on March 29. A decision is expected to be made on the same day.

Currently, the Indian Super League (ISL) and the Indian Football League are being played at various venues across the country. Matches will be broadcast live on DD Sports and Sony Sports Network, with streaming available on Waves and Sony Liv.

These bids have been solicited following the expiration of a long-standing deal for the commercial rights of the AIFF’s Indian Super League (ISL). Previously, these rights were held by Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), a company owned by Reliance. The rights to commercially exploit Indian football were sold to IMG-Reliance in 2010.

The “Master Rights Agreement” (MRA) signed in 2010 ensured that the AIFF would receive ₹500 million annually from FSDL. This agreement expired on December 8, and both AIFF and FSDL could not reach a new agreement, causing delays in the start of the Indian Super League. Following a Supreme Court order, the 2025-26 season commenced last month.
