Afghanistan Claims Airstrikes on ISIS Bases in Pakistan

Kabul, July 1: The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that its air force conducted airstrikes on alleged ISIS (Daesh) bases located in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

According to a statement from the ministry, these strikes targeted locations in Pakistan where terrorist activities against Afghanistan were reportedly being planned.

The ministry highlighted that a joint ISIS center in the Saranan area of Pishin district in Balochistan was specifically targeted. This center was described as a major hub for coordinating bombings and terrorist activities against Afghan citizens.

Additionally, a successful airstrike was carried out on another Daesh center in the Kambar Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A joint Daesh base and associated elements in the Garam Chashma area of the Shah Saleem Valley in Chitral were also struck. The ministry claims these centers were involved in planning attacks on civilians and other destructive activities.

Initial reports suggest that these attacks inflicted significant casualties and economic damage on ISIS and its affiliates. The ministry asserted that the strikes were executed with precision, targeting only military objectives, and there were no reports of civilian deaths or injuries.

The ministry warned that any location used to threaten Afghanistan’s security would be targeted in the future.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani military confirmed the downing of a drone on Tuesday night. They claimed that four rudimentary drones were sent from Afghanistan into Balochistan, which were intercepted by the Pakistani air defense system.

According to the military’s public relations department (ISPR), these drones were part of a policy by the Afghan Taliban regime to support and shelter terrorist organizations active in areas controlled by Afghanistan.

Reports also surfaced late Tuesday night of a suspected drone attack in the outskirts of Peshawar, where a woman was killed and six members of the same family were injured, according to the major Pakistani daily, Dawn.

This incident comes on the heels of claims from Pakistan regarding airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians, including women and children, and injured 163 others.

In response, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d’affaires at the Pakistani embassy in Kabul to lodge a strong protest against the alleged violation of Afghan airspace and bombings on civilian homes in Kunar, Paktia, and Paktika.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry condemned these attacks as serious violations of international law, humanitarian law, and the territorial integrity of a sovereign nation.
