Accused in ₹2 Crore Embezzlement Case Arrested in Nashik

Nashik, June 16: A fugitive accused in a ₹2 crore embezzlement case from Pune has been arrested in Nashik, police reported on Tuesday.

According to a complaint filed by 38-year-old Kiran Dadasaheb Shinde with the Pune police, the responsibility for selling flats in four buildings of the ‘Ganga Fernhill’ project was assigned to Senior Sales Manager Simon Rony Peter. However, it is alleged that instead of depositing the money from flat sales into the company’s account, he transferred it to a fake private bank account belonging to his associate, B. Chandrashekhar. This fraudulent activity resulted in the embezzlement of nearly ₹2 crore collected from 32 customers.

Based on this complaint, a case was registered on June 9 at the Kalepadal police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023. Following the registration of the case, Peter went into hiding and even turned off his mobile phone to evade arrest.

During the investigation, Pune police learned that the accused was hiding in Nashik. Officers from the Kalepadal police station contacted Senior Police Inspector Ashok Sharmale of the Gangapur police station for assistance in locating and apprehending Peter.

Upon receiving credible information, Sharmale discovered that Peter had arrived in Nashik by car and was staying in Room 301 of Hotel Treebo Sapphire on Gangapur Road.

Upon this revelation, Crime Investigation Team officers led by Ghanshyam Bhoye were dispatched to the location. The police team acted swiftly, apprehending the accused and later handing him over to Pune police for further legal action.

This operation was successfully executed under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Sharmale and his team, which included Assistant Sub-Inspector Tushar Deore and Police Head Constables Ravindra Mohite, Girish Mahale, Bhagwat Thawil, Ghanshyam Bhoye, Praveen Kedare, Gorakh Salunkhe, Sujit Jadhav, and Tulsi Das Chaudhary.
