ABVP Unveils Manifesto for Delhi University Elections, Focuses on Housing and Student Safety

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) released its manifesto for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections on Sunday. The manifesto is built around four key pillars: housing, participation, trust, and results. ABVP emphasizes the need for secure and accessible student housing, women’s safety, improved academic systems, and job opportunities.

In the upcoming elections, ABVP has nominated Yash Dubas for president, Eshu Maurya for vice president, Riya Chhabra for secretary, and Lakshyraj Singh for joint secretary. The organization has been actively engaging with students across various colleges and hostels to understand their issues and expectations, particularly in light of recent safety concerns highlighted by the Saty Niketan incident.

The ABVP prioritizes the construction of new hostels, adequate facilities for female students, and the establishment of a student housing cell and helpline. Safety inspections of hostels and adherence to fire safety standards are also part of their agenda. The manifesto includes plans to enhance basic amenities such as cleanliness, drinking water, and internet access.

To bolster women’s safety and student welfare, ABVP proposes initiatives like pink booths, security patrols, the availability of female security personnel, improved lighting, common rooms for female students, sanitary napkin machines, gynecological services, and self-defense training.

In terms of academic reforms, the manifesto calls for timely and transparent examination results, supplementary exams, access to answer sheets, transparency in internal assessments, student-friendly exam processes, and prompt degree issuance. To connect students’ futures with employment, ABVP aims to organize job fairs, build connections with industries and research institutions, and promote training and internships, particularly in AI and digital skills, as well as foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

Yash Dubas, the presidential candidate from ABVP, stated, “Our manifesto’s focus on housing, participation, trust, and results directly addresses the daily needs and aspirations of students. While other organizations are mired in internal conflicts, ABVP candidates are united in reaching out to students about their issues.
