Kolkata, June 4: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has sharply criticized TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee regarding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons. He stated that Banerjee is attempting to evade the law, but such efforts will not succeed.
Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, Ghosh remarked, “Abhishek Banerjee is trying to escape the law, but it is not possible. Previously, all his leaders, from Anubrata Mondal to Partha Chatterjee, have played the same drama. They claimed to be ill or hospitalized, but ultimately, they had to comply. Those who went in ended up behind bars. Everyone is waiting.”
It is noteworthy that TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee is embroiled in a case related to alleged irregularities and illegal transactions in the recruitment of primary teachers. Recently, the ED summoned him for questioning on June 15 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the scam. He has been asked to appear at the ED office located in the CGO Complex in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Sources indicate that on Wednesday, two ED officials visited Banerjee’s residence, ‘Shantiniketan,’ on Harish Mukherjee Road in South Kolkata to deliver the summons personally. However, security personnel informed them that Banerjee had not been residing there for some time.
Subsequently, the ED officials went to his other residence on Kalighat Road, near his aunt and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee‘s home, but he was also absent there. As a result, they could not serve the summons in person. According to ED sources, he has been called back for questioning to reach a logical conclusion regarding his alleged role in the case. His statement is scheduled to be recorded on June 15.
Meanwhile, Dilip Ghosh also commented on the internal strife within the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He stated, “The TMC situation is currently ambiguous. Let them first decide who the party is with, who is who, and who the leaders are. What comments should we make on this? The party is disintegrating. This was the future of the party, and more is to come.”
Ghosh further added, “The TMC name should be erased. A bulldozer should be run over it. This name has ruined Bengal for the past 15 years. People do not want to hear or see the TMC name anymore.”
