AAPs Crisis Deepens as Raghav Chadha and Six MPs Leave the Party

New Delhi, April 26: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of theatrics. This came after seven MPs, including Raghav Chadha, announced their departure from the party. Sachdeva claimed they were pressuring these MPs by discussing a non-existent ‘Right to Recall.’

He stated that the people of Delhi and the nation clearly understand the despair of AAP leaders like Kejriwal, Mann, Sanjay Singh, and Saurabh Bhardwaj regarding the exit of Chadha and the other six Rajya Sabha MPs.

The day after Chadha and the six MPs initiated their transition to the BJP, Sachdeva remarked that Chadha is aware of alleged financial and administrative irregularities committed by Kejriwal. He suggested that Kejriwal is now worried about potential exposure of these issues.

Sachdeva noted that since Friday, Kejriwal has avoided speaking to the media directly, instead sending Mann, Singh, and others to address the situation. He accused them of trying to intimidate the seven MPs who left with threats like ‘Right to Recall’ to force their return. However, he emphasized that these MPs are distinguished and educated individuals who have felt stifled in the party, especially amid reports of the 2023 liquor scam in Delhi and allegations of corruption against ministers in Punjab.

He stated that ultimately, these MPs chose to listen to their conscience and separate from AAP. Sachdeva criticized Mann’s request for an appointment with President Droupadi Murmu to discuss the return of the MPs as mere theatrics, pointing out that the Constitution does not provide for recalling MPs.

The Delhi BJP President asserted that AAP leaders are not merely upset about losing their seven political allies; they fear that Chadha might reveal details about the party’s foreign funding, alleged terrorist connections, fundraising from Punjab, and links to the Delhi liquor scam. He further mentioned that revelations related to Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’—a term referring to a bungalow allegedly used by Kejriwal in Delhi’s Lodhi Estate—have shocked the public.

Sachdeva claimed there are reports of over ₹60 crore of public funds being misused in the original ‘Sheesh Mahal’ case. Regarding ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’, he stated that after receiving a house allocation and government repairs from the center, Kejriwal had extensive beautification and decoration work done through a private company, setting a new benchmark for corruption.
