Jaipur, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming panchayat elections in Rajasthan. This announcement, made on October 8, includes candidates for 15 district council seats and 45 panchayat committee wards.
In total, AAP has nominated 60 candidates, with a significant focus on Jhalawar. The party has declared candidates for 18 panchayat committee wards in this district, which is considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. This strategic move comes as AAP seeks to enhance its presence in rural local body elections across the state.
During a press conference held on Thursday, AAP’s General Secretary Vishvendra Singh and Jaipur District President Amit Dadhich shared the details of the candidate list. They indicated that more candidates for additional seats will be announced in the coming days.
The list highlights candidates from various districts, including Ajmer’s Sawar, Alwar’s Raini, Laxmangarh, and Malakhera, as well as wards in Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Didwana-Kuchaman, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pali, Rajsamand, Tonk, and Sawai Madhopur.
Notable candidates include Mahavir Prasad from Ward 19 in Alcisar, Jhunjhunu, and Lokpal from Ward 3 in Chidawa. AAP has also announced candidates for 15 district council seats.
In September, the party declared its intention to contest the panchayati raj elections statewide. With this initial list, AAP has formally kicked off its candidate announcements for the rural local body elections.
The panchayati raj elections in Rajasthan will be held in phases, prompting political parties to ramp up their campaigns and finalize their candidate lists ahead of voting.
