Thiruvananthapuram, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Kerala’s Chief Minister VD Satheesan has announced a mission to resolve 276,000 pending e-files in government offices by December 31. This initiative, aimed at streamlining administrative processes, was revealed during a press conference on October 10.
In addition to the file resolution plan, Satheesan disclosed that a bill will be introduced during the upcoming Assembly session starting October 12. This proposed legislation aims to provide legal protections for senior citizens, including the establishment of a dedicated department to address their needs.
The state government plans to conduct a survey to assess the requirements and circumstances of elderly residents, ensuring they receive adequate care and support. Satheesan emphasized that the responsibility of caring for seniors will not rest solely with the government; local bodies, volunteers, and other organizations will also play vital roles in this initiative.
He described the proposed law as a pioneering effort on a global scale, noting that several other states have expressed interest in similar measures. The campaign to clear pending files will commence on October 15 and conclude on December 31, encompassing both electronic and physical documents awaiting action in government offices.
To prevent files from remaining unaddressed, the state government will explore various strategies. A dashboard will be developed to monitor the status of these files, allowing the Chief Minister and other officials to track progress with a single click.
During the briefing, Satheesan also updated the media on the progress of the state government’s first 100-day program, reporting that out of 588 projects announced, 568 have been completed. He stated that work is ongoing on the remaining projects, with approximately 90 percent of the tasks reported as finished.
Addressing the FIR filed in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic case, Satheesan confirmed that the state government acted following a legal investigation rather than rushing into immediate action. He reiterated that the law would take its course.
On the topic of the special intensive review of the electoral roll, he remarked that the UDF was the first to express concerns regarding this process in Kerala, while neither CPI-M nor BJP raised objections initially. Responding to criticism from UDF convenor Adoor Prakash, Satheesan stated that policy decisions are made in consultation with party and coalition leaders, and he is open to feedback and correction if necessary.
