New Delhi, July 23: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its criticism of the central government regarding the NEET paper leak controversy and the ongoing student protests. Anurag Dhanda, the party’s national media in-charge, questioned the government’s claims of dialogue and accountability. He stated that the primary demand from students is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, asserting that no discussions can proceed without it.
In an interview with a news agency, Dhanda remarked, “Initially, the government attempted to suppress and discredit the student movement, but it failed. This movement is now solely focused on student issues, demanding accountability for the NEET paper leak. If the government does not want the youth of the country to question their leadership, they must promptly secure the resignation of the education minister.”
Dhanda also raised concerns about the government’s offer for discussions. He emphasized, “With the continuous occurrence of paper leaks in the country, it is essential to establish accountability rather than just hold discussions. In many cases, actions taken have been ineffective, and the government must first ensure accountability within the Ministry of Education.”
He further clarified, “The ongoing movement regarding the NEET controversy is not initiated by any political party. Students across the nation have united over their issues and future. This movement is neither a campaign of any political party nor a media-created issue.”
Dhanda accused the media of initially downplaying the movement and noted that the government did not want the issue to gain traction. “Despite this, the students’ voices have continued to grow stronger. Any political party or organization wishing to stand with the students should support their demands,” he stated.
He urged all political parties to take student issues seriously and stand in solidarity with them. “In a democracy, the voice of the people must be valued. No government should be under the illusion that it is above the public. Over time, the government is realizing that this is solely a student movement, and it is crucial to consider their demands,” he added.
Dhanda called on the government to address the concerns of the youth, emphasizing that it is the government’s responsibility to resolve their issues as they express anxiety about their future.
