Dhaka, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : In Dhaka, Bangladesh, books authored by leaders of terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (ISIS) are being sold openly. A recent report indicates that these publications promote violent ideologies, including the murder of innocents and the destabilization of governments.
According to the Bangladeshi news website Dhaka Stream, these books are available in various outlets, including bookstores, online platforms, and a month-long book fair organized by the government-affiliated Islamic Foundation.
The Islamic Foundation’s book fair, which began on September 12, features works from prominent figures associated with Al-Qaeda, including Abdullah Yusuf Azzam and Osama bin Laden, as well as other leaders linked to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent and Ansar al-Islam.
At least ten publishers are reportedly selling these books at the fair held in the premises of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka. Additionally, these titles can be found in stationary shops at Banglabazar and on several online platforms. Some vendors are even promoting these books on social media.
The report claims that the literature advocates for attacks on government institutions, police stations, highways, and oil pipelines, aiming to disrupt public services and incite dissent among the populace. Some books allegedly justify the killing of innocent civilians and suggest that maximum harm should be inflicted to destabilize governments.
In response to this troubling trend, Nazrul Islam Talukdar, a former secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Ulama Party and current executive committee member, stated that the sale of such literature is unacceptable. He emphasized that this type of content could have a detrimental impact on society, the state, and the nation, and should not be supported in any form.
