New Delhi, June 14: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a campaign against the rising electricity rates in Delhi. Saurabh Bhardwaj, the party’s Delhi president, accused the state government of continuously burdening the public with inflation.
He stated that the concerns raised by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during the assembly elections are now proving to be true one by one.
Bhardwaj emphasized that Kejriwal had warned Delhi residents that if the BJP came to power, electricity prices would rise, the neighborhood clinic system would weaken, and the conditions of government schools and hospitals would deteriorate, placing an additional financial burden on the poor and middle class.
He claimed that the current situation in Delhi reflects these very concerns. The BJP government is following the central government’s policies, which have led to rising inflation. The central government has already increased prices for essential items like petrol, diesel, and cooking gas, and now the Delhi government has added to the public’s woes by raising electricity rates.
The AAP leader also pointed out that private school fees in Delhi are continuously increasing, with some nearly doubling. Additionally, incidents of demolitions in various areas are becoming more frequent, making it increasingly difficult for middle-class families and ordinary citizens to live in Delhi.
Bhardwaj noted that the rise in electricity prices will most significantly impact the household budgets of average families. He asserted that the BJP government is focusing on imposing additional financial burdens on the people rather than addressing public welfare issues.
He concluded by stating that the people of Delhi are now realizing that Kejriwal’s statements during the elections were not mere political rhetoric but genuine warnings about the future. The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that the BJP government withdraw the increase in electricity rates and provide relief to the public.
