New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : In New Delhi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has raised serious allegations against the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claims there is a conspiracy aimed at discrediting AAP ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Bhardwaj asserts that between July 19 and September 15, a total of 58 different companies and businesses registered for GST at AAP’s national office address.
Bhardwaj contends that these registrations are part of a scheme to link AAP with drug traffickers and alleged shell companies before the elections. He pointed out that the national office is located at 1, Canning Lane, New Delhi, a government residence, questioning how such a high number of GST registrations could occur at this address, where private business operations are not permitted.
He has called on the central government to investigate these registrations and identify the officials involved in the verification process. According to Bhardwaj, the GST registration process requires not only Aadhaar-based OTP verification but also documentation related to the business location. For instance, if a property is claimed as a business site, utility bills or other documents must be provided. In cases of rental properties, documents like rental agreements, landlord bills, and NOCs are necessary. He emphasized that physical verification of the business location is often conducted, making the 58 registrations at AAP’s office even more suspicious.
One of the GST numbers cited, 07AHKPC920F3ZJ, is registered under the legal name of Vikas Chaudhary and the trade name Priyanka. Other names associated with the registrations include Asha Enterprises, Mohammad Ahmed, Faizan Ahmed, and several others. Bhardwaj indicated that these businesses are involved in activities like import-export. He warned that these registrations could be used to fabricate a narrative against AAP before the elections.
Bhardwaj suggested that the intention might be to promote the idea that AAP operates numerous shell companies and receives funds from drug traffickers. He has labeled these accusations as politically motivated, pending the results of an independent investigation. He referenced previous elections in Delhi and Punjab, recalling that before the 2022 Punjab elections, AAP faced allegations of receiving funds from Khalistani supporters. Similarly, during the Delhi Assembly elections, the party was targeted over a supposed liquor scam.
Bhardwaj noted that in the past, court proceedings did not substantiate the accusations made against AAP. He stated that the dates, Aadhaar verification, and other details of the 58 GST registrations from July to September 2026 are available on the GST portal. He urged the central government to clarify which systems, servers, or computers were used for these registrations and which officials conducted the verification.
On September 19, 2026, AAP filed a complaint with the Principal Chief Commissioner of GST, the Commissioner of Trade and Taxes, and the Police Commissioner of New Delhi regarding this matter. According to Bhardwaj, there has been no response from the relevant authorities since the complaint was lodged. He is calling for a thorough investigation to determine the process behind such a large number of GST registrations at a government residence.
