New Delhi, February 25: The Patiala House Court has extended the police custody of five Youth Congress activists involved in protests during the AI Summit in the national capital. Four of the accused were arrested in Delhi, while one was apprehended in Gwalior.

The court has granted an additional four days of police custody for all five individuals. They are scheduled to be presented in court again on March 1. The accused include Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar, Narsimha Yadav, and Jitendra Yadav.

Delhi police requested the court to extend the custody, stating that the initial five-day period was insufficient. Uday Bhanu Chib has been arrested, and another individual has been placed under transit remand for orchestrating the protests. The police plan to confront these individuals with Uday Bhanu and others involved.

According to police reports, a person named Siddharth designed and printed T-shirts related to the protests. He was apprehended in Himachal Pradesh, and efforts are underway to bring him to Delhi for further questioning. The police emphasized the need for an extended custody period to facilitate this process.

Additionally, a man named Ramesh Agarwal filed for anticipatory bail, which was heard by the session judge. He claimed to have printed one lakh T-shirts, purchased under the name of the Indian Youth Congress.

The defense opposed the police’s request for an extension of custody.

The protests, termed a “shirtless protest,” have drawn significant criticism during the ‘India AI Impact Summit-2026’ held at Bharat Mandapam. Congress leaders have condemned the actions taken against the activists. Meanwhile, the BJP and NDA allies have launched sharp attacks against Congress, while party leaders are working to defend the protesters.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the youth associated with the Youth Congress have been arrested and sent to police and judicial custody following the protests at the AI Summit in Delhi. He strongly condemned these actions, asserting that the protests were conducted thoughtfully and in the national interest, and should not be considered serious offenses.
