Youth Arrested for Vehicle Theft in New Delhi, Ten Stolen Vehicles Seized

New Delhi, June 1: The AATS team from the northeastern district has arrested an individual on charges of vehicle theft, recovering ten stolen vehicles in the process. The suspect is reported to be a habitual offender, previously involved in 17 criminal cases related to robbery, vehicle theft, and possession of stolen goods.

On May 31, during preventive checks and surveillance in the Ashok Nagar area of Delhi, the AATS team received specific information regarding the activities of a vehicle thief. Acting on this tip-off, the team stopped a man riding a motorcycle. When asked for the vehicle’s documents, he was unable to provide them. Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen at the Jafrabad police station.

Following this, the suspect was arrested, and a case was registered at the Jyoti Nagar police station. The individual has been identified as Mohit alias Mangal, a 24-year-old resident of Ashok Nagar, Delhi.

During questioning, Mohit admitted to his involvement in several vehicle theft incidents. Based on his statements, police took further action and recovered nine more stolen vehicles from various locations. These vehicles were found to be linked to e-FIR cases registered at different police stations in Delhi.

The investigation has also revealed that Mohit is a habitual criminal, previously involved in cases of robbery, vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property. The police are currently conducting further investigations to identify others involved in the supply and network of stolen vehicles.
