Neemuch, March 9: In an era dominated by expensive canvases and synthetic paints, a young artist from Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh has captured attention with a unique painting made entirely from indigenous and eco-friendly materials.
Rahil Dev Lohar, a painter from Kuchadod village, has crafted a portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother using traditional and natural resources. Notably, this artwork does not utilize costly canvases or chemical colors.
For his painting, Rahil employed a jute sack (tata). He first cleaned the sack and applied a thick paste made from cow dung and fenugreek seeds. Once dried, this mixture transformed into a sturdy, natural canvas on which he meticulously painted. While most artists avoid working on rough surfaces, Rahil has made this his artistic signature.
The colors used in this painting are also entirely natural. They were created by grinding various flower petals and extracting juice from green leaves. Using these colors, he depicted Prime Minister Modi and his mother, showcasing simplicity and emotional connection.
In an interview with a news agency, Rahil shared that he has been actively working in the field of painting for the past 15 years, with his art closely tied to society and nature. He stated, “I prepared the natural colors myself. By creating a canvas from a mixture of cow dung, fenugreek seeds, and soil, I painted this portrait.”
Rahil aims to convey that art does not rely on expensive materials through this artwork. Inspired by the spirit of the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Local for Vocal’ campaigns, he has undertaken this experiment, which also promotes environmental conservation.
It is worth noting that Rahil Dev Lohar has previously gained attention for his unique paintings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his artworks earned him a place in the World Record. His innovative approach has brought national recognition to his art, emerging from a rural background.
