Yogi Adityanath Announces Major Police Recruitment Drive in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 3: A significant initiative for youth employment has emerged in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to recruit over 81,000 positions in the Uttar Pradesh Police for the financial year 2026-27. He described this as a comprehensive campaign aimed at developing a capable and modern police force while providing job opportunities for the youth.

Late Thursday night, the Chief Minister reviewed the activities of various units within the police department and their future plans. He emphasized the need for transparency and renewed energy by directing the transfer of police personnel stationed at important locations, including the Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, and police headquarters in Lucknow.

To further strengthen law and order, Adityanath stressed the importance of modern technology, transparent processes, and capable human resources. He instructed officials to adopt a results-oriented approach while ensuring accountability at all levels, aiming to create a strong and reliable security environment for the public.

During the meeting, it was revealed that recruitment is proposed for various categories, including sub-inspectors, civil police constables, radio assistant operators, computer operators, and confidential sub-inspectors, totaling over 81,000 positions. Some recruitment processes have already commenced. The Chief Minister directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to conduct all direct recruitments with full transparency, fairness, and in accordance with the prescribed reservation provisions, ensuring timely completion.

In reviewing the PRV-112 service, the Chief Minister instructed the strategic placement of Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) and ensured their continuous movement. He emphasized that PRVs should operate in a manner that instills security confidence among the public while sending a clear message to criminals. To further reduce the current average response time of approximately six minutes, he called for enhanced technology, data-driven patrolling, and field coordination. He also stressed the need for the availability of additional four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles and improving the effectiveness of route chart reviews every 15 days under hotspot-based patrolling.

In the review of fire and emergency services, it was reported that approximately 42,000 fire incidents were controlled during the year 2025-26, with prompt action taken in over 10,000 emergency situations, saving nearly 800 crore rupees in property. The Chief Minister directed that at least one hydraulic fire tender be made available in every district and prioritized the goal of ‘one fire tender per tehsil’ to be completed in a timely manner. He also emphasized conducting a comprehensive public awareness campaign to prevent potential fire incidents during the summer season.

In the review of the cybercrime headquarters, it was noted that through rapid technical intervention, 425.7 crore rupees were secured in the financial year 2025-26. A total of 391,340 complaints were received during the year, with 240,015 complaints registered in the same year, and legal action was ensured in 7,287 cases.

The meeting highlighted a significant increase in the call handling capacity of the cyber helpline 1930, rising from an average of 1,709 calls per day to approximately 7,467 calls per day. About 59 percent of total calls were effectively resolved. Training was provided to 65,608 police personnel, and 84,705 certificates were issued.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed that actions against cyber crimes be made more technology-driven, swift, and effective. He directed the launch of a widespread cyber awareness campaign across the state, promoting safe digital practices and strengthening the 1930 helpline for effective complaint resolution.

Regarding the police radio department, it was reported that efforts are underway to implement the e-office system in all 75 districts, with digitization completed in 63 districts. Training for the newly appointed 936 chief operators will commence soon. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to modernize, strengthen, and ensure seamless communication systems.

In the review of the Economic Offenses Research Organization, information was shared about the formation of a central crack team and the strengthening of case management systems for monitoring investigations. The Chief Minister directed strict actions against financial crimes and emphasized expanding public awareness campaigns.

In the review of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), progress in investigations and prosecution activities was reported. The Chief Minister instructed the organization of CID sectors and the enhancement of the investigation system in line with new crime laws.

The meeting also noted that units have been established in all districts under the Civil Defense Department, with approximately 7,500 volunteers recruited. The Chief Minister emphasized developing this into a robust system based on public participation.

The Government Railway Police reported significant achievements in crime control, track security, and human trafficking prevention. Under ‘Operation Muskaan,’ 2,325 children were reunited with their families. The Chief Minister prioritized passenger safety and instructed to strengthen technical monitoring.
