Beijing, March 24: Xiaomi’s gaming sub-brand, Black Shark, has introduced the Black Shark Blade 2+ series in China, featuring upgraded compact magnetic power banks. While the core concept remains unchanged, these new models offer improvements in design and usability. A significant enhancement is the magnetic surface, now coated with a UV-based finish that provides a smoother feel and minimizes the risk of scratching a phone’s back panel.
The series offers two capacity options. The 5,000mAh model prioritizes portability, with a thickness of approximately 0.8cm and a weight of 105g. The larger 10,000mAh version is slightly thicker at 1.36cm and weighs 175g, providing more backup power while still being slim. Both models are designed to attach directly to smartphones without adding excessive bulk.
Charging capabilities include both wireless and wired modes. Each model supports up to 15W wireless charging. When connected via cable, the smaller unit provides up to 18W output, while the larger version can deliver up to 22.5W. The power banks are compatible with multiple charging standards, ensuring versatility across various devices.
Xiaomi emphasizes battery reliability, stating that the internal cells are similar to those found in Apple products, focusing on consistent performance and longevity. These units are rated for approximately 400 charge cycles, surpassing the typical lifespan of compact power banks in this category.
The design reflects a gaming-inspired aesthetic characteristic of the Black Shark brand. Sharp lines, visible capacity indicators, and LED lights create a unique appearance. A side button allows users to quickly check the remaining charge, and a double press turns the unit off.
Magnetic attachment is facilitated by N52-grade magnets, designed to keep the power bank securely aligned with compatible devices during use, ensuring stable charging even while handling the phone.
Pricing in China starts at CNY 159 for the 5,000mAh model and CNY 189 for the 10,000mAh version. Xiaomi has yet to announce availability outside China, and an international launch does not seem to be on the horizon at this time.
