Washington, July 15: The White House has unveiled the ‘Gold Eagle,’ an artificial intelligence (AI)-based clearinghouse designed to identify and rapidly address cybersecurity vulnerabilities in critical U.S. infrastructure.
This initiative brings together federal agencies, open-source software partners, and private infrastructure companies to create a coordinated system. It aims to gather, assess, and prioritize information on cyber weaknesses, providing essential data to government and industry security experts.
The White House stated that ‘Gold Eagle’ will utilize existing federal authorities and resources. The Treasury Department, Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the Department of Defense have collaborated with industry partners to develop this program.
The goal of this initiative is to swiftly detect vulnerabilities and enhance coordination for rapid action within critical infrastructure sectors. Additionally, it seeks to reduce redundancy in vulnerability scanning efforts.
Treasury Secretary Scott Basset emphasized, “Under President Trump’s leadership, the Treasury Department is working with the private sector to secure our financial institutions, address vulnerabilities, and protect the integrity of the U.S. financial system.”
He added, “The Treasury will continue to leverage cutting-edge AI capabilities in collaboration with our partner agencies to stay ahead of adversaries and protect the American people from emerging threats.”
Established under President Donald Trump’s June 2 executive order, “Promoting Advanced Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Security,” ‘Gold Eagle’ is described by the White House as a new operational model for cyber defense.
This clearinghouse will employ advanced AI capabilities to process threat-related information. It will assist both government and industry in identifying risks, prioritizing rapid responses, and enhancing the resilience of systems that support the U.S. economy, national security, and daily life.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated, “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are operating with wartime readiness in the cyber domain to continuously address vulnerabilities. Gold Eagle is at the forefront of America’s cybersecurity efforts. We are leveraging cutting-edge AI in partnership with top U.S. innovators to protect our critical infrastructure and national security.”
Homeland Security Secretary Markwen Mullin noted that this partnership will strengthen existing security for software and networks while promoting advancements in AI.
Mullin remarked, “We will continue to explore how these technologies can enhance our nation’s security and drive the necessary innovations for America’s global competitiveness.”
The White House indicated that ‘Gold Eagle’ has begun to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities recognized across various industries. It is also coordinating scanning, verification, and remediation efforts aimed at securing U.S. software and networks.
National Cyber Director Sean Kerncross stated that the administration is collaborating with private innovators to maintain America’s leadership in AI and cybersecurity.
Kerncross affirmed, “By working shoulder to shoulder with America’s top innovators, we are paving an even better path forward and ensuring America’s dominance in AI for future generations.”
