New Delhi, 21 November (Daily Kiran): West Indies have announced their Test squad for the December tour of New Zealand, with experienced fast bowler Kemar Roach and all-rounder Kavem Hodge returning to the team. Both last played a Test against Pakistan in Multan in January.

Roach’s inclusion is expected to strengthen the relatively inexperienced pace attack, which also features 29-year-old Ojay Shields, who has earned his maiden Test call-up. Meanwhile, fast bowlers Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph have been ruled out due to injuries.
Left-arm spinner Khary Pierre has been left out, while Hodge has been recalled.
Cricket West Indies Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, said New Zealand has always been a challenging venue and that the recent high-performance camp in Antigua was organised keeping in mind the pace-friendly conditions the team will face there.
Roach, Shields and other squad members participated in the two-week training camp and will join the ODI team in New Zealand on November 20. West Indies will play a two-day warm-up match against a New Zealand XI in Christchurch ahead of the series.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. West Indies have lost all five of their matches so far and sit at the bottom of the table, while New Zealand are set to play their first match of the current cycle against them.
West Indies Test squad for New Zealand tour: Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican (vice-captain), Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Ojay Shields.
