Newtown, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh recently addressed concerns regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the ongoing protests led by opposition parties. He emphasized that the decision to enforce the UCC rests with the government, which will act at the appropriate time. Ghosh highlighted that the administration is focused on various developmental projects across the state.
In a conversation, Ghosh stated that nearly all promises made to the public have been fulfilled. He acknowledged that some tasks remain, particularly those involving policy and legal matters, which require adherence to established procedures. He assured that these remaining tasks will also be completed in due course.
Addressing law and order issues in the state, Ghosh noted that while some unfortunate incidents have occurred, the police are actively responding to them. He criticized opposition parties, claiming they lack a clear agenda or ideology, and suggested they exploit various issues to mask their attempts to incite unrest against the central government. He asserted that such tactics would ultimately be fruitless.
On a different note, Ghosh praised Indian pilots, citing Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as an example. He recalled how Varthaman, after returning from a mission in Pakistan, received widespread admiration and respect across the nation. He also commended Captain Smita, who displayed remarkable courage in saving numerous passengers, highlighting her recognition both domestically and internationally, including honors from the Prime Minister and interest from the Israeli Prime Minister.
Responding to comments made by former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh accused her of supporting Congress and reviving CPI(M) for her political survival, suggesting she would compromise her values for the sake of her political existence.
Additionally, Ghosh addressed ongoing protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, criticizing the opposition for raising issues ahead of elections in various states. He mentioned that with local body elections approaching in West Bengal, the opposition is actively searching for relevant topics to rally around.
