Chinas Desalination Capacity Surpasses 3 Million Tons Daily

Beijing, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : China’s desalination capacity has officially exceeded 3 million tons per day, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources. Currently, the total capacity of desalination projects across the country stands at 3.077 million tons daily.

In addition to this, ongoing and planned projects are expected to add over 1 million tons per day. In July, the National Development and Reform Commission, along with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Water Resources, unveiled a comprehensive action plan aimed at advancing the desalination industry. This initiative seeks to promote the extensive use of seawater desalination, with a target to increase total capacity to 4.5 million tons per day by 2030, which includes an additional capacity of over 1.5 million tons.

This significant expansion reflects China’s commitment to addressing water scarcity issues through innovative solutions.
