Mumbai, February 12: AIMIM leader Waris Pathan has responded to government guidelines regarding the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’. He stated that it is wrong to force anyone to sing the national song.
In a conversation in Mumbai, Pathan expressed respect for ‘Vande Mataram’ but emphasized that compelling someone to sing it is inappropriate. He referenced Article 25 of the Constitution, which grants every individual the right to practice and promote their religion. He noted that everyone is free to follow their faith, and some Muslims may not accept certain lines of ‘Vande Mataram’. He criticized labeling individuals as ‘anti-national’ or ‘traitors’ for not singing the song, questioning who has the authority to judge patriotism based on religion.
Pathan accused the BJP of spreading hatred, asserting that no one should be forced to sing ‘Vande Mataram’.
Regarding the recent UN report on the blast outside the Red Fort, he reiterated that terrorists must face severe punishment. He condemned Pakistan for promoting terrorist activities, recalling attacks such as Pulwama and 26/11.
He questioned why India continues to engage in matches with Pakistan, especially when there are known terrorist connections. Pathan argued that India should refuse to play matches with Pakistan, stressing the need for the government to prioritize national concerns. He highlighted the loss of lives in the Pahalgam attack, questioning how such tragedies can be overlooked in favor of sports.
On the Mumbai Mayor’s comments about Bangladeshi infiltrators, Pathan criticized her for spreading hatred since taking office. He urged her to focus on pressing issues like pollution and infrastructure in Mumbai, rather than solely targeting infiltrators. He called for data on the situation and emphasized that improving Mumbai’s economy should be a priority.
Commenting on the recent incident in Latur, Pathan stated that life has become increasingly difficult for Muslims due to hateful rhetoric from BJP leaders. He demanded strict action against such individuals from the government.
