Prime Minister Modi Expresses Condolences Over Rewa Bus Tragedy

Bhopal, September 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow on Wednesday regarding the tragic road accident in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident, which occurred on a national highway, involved a passenger bus colliding with a bulk carrier, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to several others.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi stated, “It is heartbreaking to hear about the loss of lives in the accident in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. My condolences go out to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

According to police reports, the accident took place late in the evening near the Budwar stand in the Gudh area, when a bus operated by Pawan Travels, traveling from Rewa to Sidhi, was struck from behind by a bulk carrier.

The impact was so severe that the bulk carrier overturned, while the bus plunged into a roadside ditch. Approximately 40 passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the accident.

Emergency response teams from the police and administration arrived promptly at the scene, transporting the injured to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for treatment. Authorities reported that eight passengers are in critical condition, with additional injuries among others.

Rewa District Collector Narendra Suryavanshi indicated that the death toll may rise. He also mentioned that a three-year-old girl is missing following the accident. The girl’s mother, who was injured, is currently unable to provide any information about her daughter.

Search operations are ongoing in the ditch and surrounding areas, as officials suspect that the child may have fallen into it. The bus was on a daily route covering approximately 240 kilometers from Rewa to Amiliya, passing through Churhat, Baghor, Sidhi, and Patpara.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed officials to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured. He stated, “The news of passenger fatalities in the collision between a bus and a freight vehicle on the Rewa-Sidhi highway is extremely tragic. I pray for the peace of the departed souls and for the quick recovery of the injured.”

The Chief Minister also announced a compensation of 200,000 rupees for the families of the deceased and 100,000 rupees for those seriously injured. He instructed the administration to continue the search for the missing child and ensure proper treatment for all injured passengers.
