Gandhinagar, September 2: The Gujarat government has approved development projects worth approximately ₹133.41 crore for ten religious, historical, and tourist sites. These initiatives include the reconstruction of temples, improved facilities for pilgrims, the installation of rooftop solar systems in the Greater Gir area, and the enhancement of tourism-related infrastructure.
The approval was granted by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi. This initiative is part of the state government’s plan to enhance facilities at pilgrimage and tourist sites across Gujarat.
The tourism department considers religious, cultural, and natural attractions as key features of the state’s tourism sector.
The largest allocation, amounting to ₹46.91 crore, has been approved for various tourism-focused development works under the Greater Gir Project. The aim of these projects is to improve basic amenities for tourists and create local tourism and employment opportunities.
Additionally, ₹35 crore has been approved for the overall development of the Shri Vardhayini Mataji Temple located in Rupala, Gandhinagar district, which will include better facilities for pilgrims.
In Kesaradi village of Bavla taluka, Ahmedabad district, ₹21.75 crore has been sanctioned for the reconstruction of the Shri Jodalpir Temple and other development works within the temple complex.
For the ‘Govardhan Parvat Development Project’ in Anjar, Kutch district, ₹12.98 crore has been approved, with the declared aim of improving the site and enhancing visitor experiences.
In Gondal taluka of Rajkot district, ₹5.06 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the area surrounding the historical Analgadh Fort and Mahakali Mataji Temple.
In Vansda, Navsari district, ₹5.03 crore will be allocated for the comprehensive development of the Shri Unai Mataji Temple complex. This project includes the construction of Shri Ramchandra and Hanuman temples, circumambulation paths, entrance gates, landscaping, walls, reservoirs, cultural halls, dining areas, and a library.
In Bhadrava, Vadodara district, ₹3.31 crore has been approved for basic facilities near the Chehar Mataji Temple along the banks of the Mahisagar River. This project will include ghats, walkways, paving blocks, railings, and landscaping.
In the Shri Valinath Mahadev Temple located in Tarabh, Mehsana district, ₹2.68 crore has been approved for electrification works, which will also include a 100-kilowatt rooftop solar system. Minor works at two temples have also received approval.
