Gwalior, September 2: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that those who hold the plow are the true strength of the nation. Speaking at the Balram Jayanti Festival and Cooperative Farmers’ Meet in Gwalior, he described farmers’ hard work as the “fuel” for the state’s economy. He assured that the government stands with farmers at every step, from fields to accounts and seeds to markets.
The Chief Minister stated that Lord Balram, the deity of strength, symbolizes respect for labor and agricultural pride. As a plow-bearer, he expanded farming in the country and made it a means for public welfare. The organizers presented the Chief Minister with a plow as a symbol of agricultural virtue.
During the event, CM Mohan Yadav launched four significant initiatives related to farmer welfare. He introduced an online farmer credit card portal that allows farmers to apply from home with a single click. Additionally, the government simplified the zero percent interest loan scheme, allowing farmers to repay their loans within 12 months at their convenience, eliminating the previous requirement for separate repayments for Kharif and Rabi loans.
The Chief Minister also launched the Krishak Kavach scheme, aimed at connecting farmers to loans and government schemes, especially those whose accounts were pending verification and had been deprived of benefits. To strengthen cooperative activities in villages, he inaugurated offices for 200 new PACS institutions.
Addressing the farmers, CM Mohan Yadav stated that the government is enhancing the entire journey of farmers, from seeds to markets and exports. He expressed the vision of making the state the milk capital of the country. Each block in the state is set to develop a Vrindavan village, and the fodder grant has been increased from 20 to 40 rupees.
Union Minister of Telecommunications and Northeast Development Jyotiraditya Scindia remarked that respecting farmers has always been a legacy of the Gwalior region. The dams and reservoirs in Gwalior-Chambal have enriched agriculture. The Shyopur area has been connected by a narrow-gauge railway line, enabling farmers to sell their produce in Gwalior. The event was also attended by Assembly member Narendra Singh Tomar.
