Mumbai, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Actor and producer Vivek Vaswani took a moment on September 11 to reflect on the tragic events of 9/11. He shared how a typical morning at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) transformed into a day that would forever be etched in history.
In a heartfelt post, Vaswani shared an old photograph featuring actress Pooja Bhatt and actor Rahul Bose, taken during the world premiere of his first English film at the festival. He recounted that on September 11, 2001, he was in Toronto, excited for the debut of his film.
Vaswani wrote, “On September 11, 2001, my film had its world premiere at TIFF. It was a chilly morning in Toronto, and I was thrilled. It was my first English film and an official selection at TIFF. Ashutosh and I woke up early that day to watch ‘Monsoon Wedding.’ We left the cinema around 10 AM, and the world had changed. An attack had occurred in America. Today marks the anniversary of that dreadful day. But have we learned anything from it? By the way, who is John Galt?”
His post coincides with the 25th anniversary of the deadly attacks in the United States. On that fateful day, terrorists hijacked four commercial aircraft. Two planes crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, while a third struck the Pentagon near Washington, D.C.
The attacks claimed the lives of 2,977 individuals and prompted a significant shift in global politics, security policies, and the initiation of the U.S.-led “War on Terror.” The events of 9/11 profoundly altered the landscape of the world.
Vaswani has built a diverse career in acting, producing, and writing, contributing to numerous films and television projects over the years.
