Chinas 5G Base Stations Reach 5.19 Million Mark

Beijing, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : The number of 5G base stations in China has surged to 5.19 million as of the end of August, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This marks a significant increase in telecommunications services over the first eight months of this year.

The construction and utilization of 5G networks continue to advance rapidly, with 39.7% of all mobile base stations now dedicated to 5G technology. Additionally, the total number of fixed broadband users in China has reached approximately 704 million households, an increase of 13.65 million compared to the end of last year.

The three major telecommunications companies, along with China Broadnet, report that the total number of mobile phone users has climbed to nearly 1.849 billion, with 5G mobile phone users accounting for about 1.311 billion of that figure.

Moreover, mobile internet data traffic has experienced a remarkable increase. In the first eight months of this year, total mobile internet data traffic reached 2.971 trillion gigabytes, which represents a 17.3% rise compared to the same period last year.

This growth underscores the ongoing expansion and importance of telecommunications in China.
