Virat Kohlis Fitness Test Ahead of England ODI Series Selection

New Delhi, June 20: The Indian cricket team is set to play a three-match ODI series against England from July 14 to 19. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will finalize the team for this series. Virat Kohli is likely to participate, but he must first pass a fitness test before the team is announced. This assessment will take place at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE).

Kohli recently played a crucial role in the IPL 2026 final, scoring an unbeaten 75 runs against Gujarat Titans, leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to victory. However, he sustained a hamstring injury during that match, which forced him to miss the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Currently, Kohli is undergoing rehabilitation in London. Reports indicate that he is expected to report to the BCCI COE soon for his fitness evaluation. If he passes the test, he could be included in the squad for the ODI series against England.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who also missed the Afghanistan series, has resumed training at the BCCI COE. He is currently engaged in light workouts, with plans to gradually intensify his training over the next two days. His medical report will be submitted to the BCCI by the COE medical team, which will influence the selectors’ decision regarding his inclusion in the England ODI series.

The selectors are keen for Hardik to be fully fit before the series, as his presence is vital for the balance of the Indian team in both batting and bowling departments.
