New Delhi, June 20: The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Eastern District has successfully dismantled an interstate drug supply chain. Following a pursuit across various districts in Odisha, authorities apprehended the main supplier at the Odisha border. A total of 22.450 kilograms of cannabis was seized from the suspect.
The Delhi Police has been actively campaigning against substance abuse. To intensify their efforts, the Anti-Narcotics Squad has engaged local informants and gathered human intelligence.
On June 3, the squad received a tip-off about a man named Sonu, who was allegedly involved in the trafficking and supply of cannabis in Delhi and surrounding areas. The police set up a trap and arrested Sonu Kumar. A search of his vehicle revealed two bags containing 22 kilograms and 450 grams of cannabis.
A case has been registered against the accused, and an investigation is underway. Another suspect, Deba Mandi from Odisha, has also been arrested. Interrogations are ongoing to identify others involved in the drug supply chain. Authorities are committed to dismantling the entire narcotics network.
During questioning, Deba Mandi revealed that he cultivated cannabis in a forested area near his village and began packaging it using brown tape. He started supplying cannabis to the Delhi-NCR region.
Deba Mandi also disclosed that he had previously been arrested in 2018 in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, and served three years in prison. After his release in 2022, he initially worked as a laborer but returned to the cannabis supply business. About a year ago, he reconnected with individuals involved in the drug trade.
