New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : President Droupadi Murmu, along with Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, congratulated the Indian women’s trap team for winning a silver medal at the Asian Games 2026. The team, consisting of Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Kheer, achieved this feat on Tuesday.
In a post on her official X account, President Murmu expressed her pride, stating, “Congratulations to Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Kheer for winning the silver medal in the women’s trap team event at the Asian Games 2026. Your precision and focus have led you to this success. I hope you continue to achieve many more memorable victories.”
Sports Minister Mandaviya also took to X to extend his congratulations, saying, “A heartfelt congratulations to debutant Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Kheer for winning silver in the women’s trap team event at the Asian Games 2026.”
Kiren Rijiju highlighted the significance of this win in his X post, stating, “Silver for India! Congratulations to Manisha Kheer, Neeru, and Aashima Ahlawat for their achievement in the women’s trap team event at the Asian Games 2026. Neeru and Aashima’s debut makes this an exceptional accomplishment for all three.”
The trio secured the silver medal after scoring a total of 328 points in the qualification round, which consisted of 125 shots over three days. They outperformed the Kuwaiti team to clinch the silver, while China took home the gold with a score of 346, and Kuwait earned the bronze with 325 points at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery.
This marks India’s 13th medal in shooting at the Asian Games, which includes one gold medal. The gold was won by Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh in the mixed 10-meter air pistol event. Overall, India has amassed a total of 46 medals in this edition, comprising 4 gold, 21 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
