
New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : India and the United States have engaged in discussions to enhance their defense cooperation while addressing the evolving security situation in the Indo-Pacific region. This dialogue took place on September 28 in New Delhi between Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth and Lieutenant General Joel B. Vowell, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).
Following the meeting, the Indian Army shared details on social media platform X, stating, “USARPAC’s Deputy Commanding General Lieutenant General Joel B. Vowell met with Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth. Both military officials discussed the changing security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific and explored opportunities to advance India-U.S. defense cooperation.”
The Indian Army emphasized that the discussions also focused on enhancing the collaborative capabilities of both forces through joint training and military exercises. The success of recent military drills demonstrated that the two armies can work together more effectively in joint operations, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening military cooperation.
Earlier that day, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with a delegation of U.S. Congress members from both major parties, led by Congressman Brian Mast. Their discussions centered on bolstering the comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the U.S., with a particular emphasis on cooperation in the defense industry and technology.
The Defense Ministry posted on X, stating, “Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with a delegation of U.S. House members, led by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast. The talks focused on changes in the India-U.S. comprehensive global strategic partnership, particularly emphasizing cooperation in defense industry and technology.”
Last week, under the “War Exercise 2026,” Indian and U.S. troops trained together in various operational scenarios. This collaboration improved their ability to work together and allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s strategies, techniques, and operational methods. U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, remarked that the joint military exercise “War Exercise” exemplifies the robust defense partnership between the two nations.
After observing the training at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, Gore stated on X, “It was fantastic to see American and Indian soldiers training together at the Mahajan Field Firing Range. This exercise showcases the strength of our defense partnership, which includes trust, readiness, collaboration, and shared objectives. We all take pride in what the U.S. and Indian armies are achieving together.”
