Ranchi, April 14: On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and Bharat Ratna awardee, tributes were paid across Jharkhand, including its capital, Ranchi.
At Ambedkar Chowk in Doranda, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid floral wreaths at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar, honoring his legacy. In a media address, Governor Gangwar emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar was not only the creator of the Constitution but also a remarkable social reformer. He provided the nation with a Constitution founded on the principles of democracy, equality, and fraternity.
The Governor remarked, “Despite facing adverse circumstances, Babasaheb achieved the highest education and fought against discrimination throughout his life. His life is an inspiring example of determination and self-confidence. Today, we must embody his ideals in our conduct.”
He highlighted the importance of education, stating that Dr. Ambedkar believed it to be the most powerful means of societal change. He called for active participation from all to build an inclusive and just society.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren recalled Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions, stating that the democratic India we live in today owes much to his unparalleled efforts. “The entire nation takes pride in a son like Babasaheb. His contributions have never been hidden and will never be forgotten; the world salutes his work. We will always remember the path he showed us and his contributions,” he added.
Alongside the Chief Minister, MLA Kalpana Soren and Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji also paid their respects at Dr. Ambedkar’s statue. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police of Ranchi. Various organizations across different districts and divisions of the state also organized seminars and events to commemorate Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, pledging to follow the path he laid out.
