Vinod Bansal: Illegal Religious Conversion Won't Be Allowed to Spread in India

New Delhi: Vinod Bansal, a leader of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), responded sharply to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s remarks on the attack on a priest in Odisha. Bansal clarified that the incident in Odisha has no connection with the Kerala Chief Minister or his government.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had condemned the attack on social media platform X, attributing it to an atmosphere of violence and hatred allegedly promoted by the Sangh Parivar. However, Vinod Bansal rejected this claim, stating that the issue raised by Vijayan is directly linked to Christian conversion groups.

Illegal Conversions and Regional Responsibility

Bansal said, “Illegal religious conversions are taking place in Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, but their masters are shouting from Kerala. The incident in Odisha is unrelated to Kerala, its priest, missionaries, churches, or any conversion gangs based there. Either the Congress or Vijayan will speak because they protect these conversion networks.”

He further emphasized that any attempt at religious conversion will be met with resistance from the VHP and Bajrang Dal. “There is no need for Bajrang Dal to intervene as tribal communities themselves are now aware and standing against these acts. The time for such wrongdoing is over, and we will not allow illegal conversions to flourish in the country. If these elements do not reform, we know how to change their mindset,” he added.

Comments on Moradabad Incident

Addressing the recent Moradabad incident, Bansal stated that the forced imposition of burqas on Hindu girls by some Muslim girls reveals a disturbing shift. “Earlier, Muslim youths, especially minors, were incited to throw stones during communal clashes. Now, even Muslim girls wearing burqas are being pushed into activities related to religious conversion,” he said.

He criticized certain extremist clerics operating in madrasas, alleging that instead of empowering students with education through pens and computers, they are forcing Hindu girls to wear burqas and undergo conversion. “This is Uttar Pradesh, a changed state, and such behaviour will not be tolerated,” Bansal concluded.
