New Delhi, April 3: BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has drawn a stark comparison between the current political climate in West Bengal and the regime of Uganda’s Idi Amin. He stated that recent events in West Bengal represent a significant blow to democracy. Shahdev accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of acting like “Mamata Amin.”
BJP’s Bihar state president Sanjay Sarawagi criticized the West Bengal government over the Malda incident. He alleged that judicial officials were attacked and surrounded. Sarawagi questioned whom Chief Minister Banerjee is protecting, claiming she is sheltering Rohingya infiltrators and illegal immigrants instead of focusing on the welfare of West Bengal’s residents.
Meanwhile, JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad commented that the situation in West Bengal speaks volumes. He accused both the central and state governments of creating a confrontational atmosphere, suppressing the hopes of ordinary citizens. He also mentioned attempts to divide the state, referencing recent remarks from the Supreme Court.
In a related statement, Bihar government minister Ramkripal Yadav issued a strong condemnation, asserting that a “government of goons” is operating in West Bengal, where officials are under pressure. He claimed that Banerjee’s government will not last much longer.
Notably, heavy protests and violence erupted in Malda against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Tensions remained high on Thursday after seven judicial officials, including three women, were taken hostage.
On a different note, Ramkripal Yadav praised the central government’s Jan Vishwas Bill. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the bill provides significant relief to the public. He explained that previously, even minor issues could entangle people in legal troubles, complicating their lives. The Jan Vishwas Bill aims to alleviate such burdens, offering a substantial gift to the general populace.
