
Deoghar, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : India’s Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan visited the military contact fair, “Sadaiv Aapke Saath,” held in Deoghar, Jharkhand, on Saturday. The event, organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Deoghar district administration, aimed to provide welfare services and grievance redressal for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents in the Santhal Pargana region.
During his address, Radhakrishnan paid tribute to the invaluable sacrifices and contributions of veterans and war widows. He emphasized that ex-servicemen are a vital national resource, capable of guiding youth and playing a crucial role in nation-building. Acknowledging the families of soldiers, he noted that every soldier at the border has a family that shares in the sacrifices and responsibilities of military service. He stressed that the nation must never forget the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families.
Reflecting on his tenure as Governor of Jharkhand, Radhakrishnan highlighted the state’s glorious tradition of serving the nation. He honored Lance Naik Albert Ekka, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, and remembered tribal freedom fighters such as Birsa Munda, Tilka Manjhi, and others. He expressed hope that the spirit of patriotism and national service will continue to inspire the people of Jharkhand.
The Vice President also pointed out the fulfillment of the long-standing demand for “One Rank, One Pension” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He mentioned various welfare initiatives launched for ex-servicemen and war widows. Praising the fair’s single-window system, he noted that consolidating pension assistance, medical facilities, documentation services, and grievance redressal into one platform exemplifies effective service delivery.
Radhakrishnan underscored the importance of coordinated public service, stating that the collaboration among armed forces, civil administration, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and welfare agencies reflects a shared commitment to serving those who serve the nation. He called for making the slogan “Sadaiv Aapke Saath” (Always with You) a continuous national commitment to ensure that veterans and their families receive respect, support, and care at all times.
During his visit, the Vice President toured various stalls at the military contact fair, which included displays of weapons and military equipment, disaster relief facilities, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) services, medical check-ups, blood donation camps, women’s health awareness campaigns, NCC activities, and pension-related services. He also interacted with veterans, beneficiaries, and attendees at the fair.
Radhakrishnan congratulated the Indian Army and the Deoghar district administration for organizing the event and commended MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey for his efforts. He thanked all institutions and agencies contributing to the welfare of the armed forces.
The event was attended by Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, MPs Dr. Nishikant Dubey and Aditya Sahu, General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General Pawan Chadha, Anamika Gautam of the Baba Baidyanath Medical Trust, along with senior officials from the Indian Army, civil administration, veterans, war widows, and their families.
