Sujit Kumar Criticizes Elon Musks Remarks on India’s Business Regulations

Bhubaneswar, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Bhubaneswar – Sujit Kumar, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has dismissed recent comments made by Tesla CEO Elon Musk regarding India’s business regulations as childish. Musk’s frustration stems from Starlink not receiving a license to operate in India, leading him to criticize the Indian government and business magnate Mukesh Ambani.

Kumar emphasized that anyone wishing to conduct business in India must comply with the country’s laws. He stated that social media posts do not equate to effective business practices and that no one should expect leniency in security standards simply because of their status.

“The government has a duty to maintain law and order and instill confidence among citizens,” Kumar remarked. He pointed out that attempts by certain opposition leaders and groups to create chaos, particularly in New Delhi, are evident.

He questioned what Musk expected from the government, asserting that it cannot allow damage to public property or harassment of citizens, including police officers. “The kind of harassment faced by law enforcement, especially female officers, on social media is unacceptable,” he added.

Kumar noted that as the government strives to maintain order and ensure citizens face no inconvenience, he is puzzled by the opposition’s grievances. He acknowledged the right to peaceful protest in a democracy but stressed that it is also a citizen’s duty to voice concerns over government policies.

Recent comments from opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, regarding meetings with the President of India, were also mentioned. Kumar refrained from commenting on the assurances given by President Droupadi Murmu to the delegation, stating he lacked details on the discussions.

He criticized the opposition for shifting blame and changing targets, suggesting that this is a strategy employed by Gandhi and his party. Kumar pointed out that in recent municipal elections in Assam, the Congress party only won two out of 46 urban bodies, indicating a rejection by the public.

“The people of this country do not want Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party in power,” Kumar asserted, suggesting that the opposition’s claims are merely distractions from their failures.

Addressing Musk’s behavior, Kumar likened it to a child’s tantrum when denied a toy. He insisted that if Musk wishes to operate in India, he must adhere to the nation’s laws. “The satellite business is sensitive and impacts national security,” he explained, highlighting the need for approvals from security and law enforcement agencies.

Kumar concluded that India has consistently followed fair and non-discriminatory policies, offering equal opportunities as long as the laws are respected. He reiterated that business cannot be conducted through mere social media posts and that licensing processes involve stringent security approvals.
